I'm not very active here, but I spend a lot of time on the range. One of my favorites rifles is my Marlin 1895 in .45-70. I reload for it and love to shoot it. It is very accurate and seems to have ample power with the proper ammunition for your needs, so I vote for the .45-70!

Are there any members here who have been able to take long (300+ yard.) shots in Ohio at varmints? I don't do any 'chuck hunting anymore, but when I did, I seldom found any place where the shots exceeded 250 yards here in north-central Ohio. It's just too darned civilized around here anymore!
