I would contact bob Barlow. He is a really good outfitter. He is honest and has fair prices. I didn’t moose hunt with him but I’ve used him for other game. He is a good guy and moose are his specialty. He can tell you where to try to draw.

I took a brown bear in Russia about 6 days ago. I used a 300 win mag with 200gr accubond bullets. It worked great for me and I’m comfortable with the rifle. I think that’s pretty important.

That’s cool to hear from someone who has been there. It sounds like they have nice boats. We booked early and reserved the 2 bigger boats they have. Was it too bad crossing over to Kuiu from camp. That’s my biggest concern. And I’ll find that big sob and put an accubond in him.

We have 2 way radios to talk between boats and a sat phone. The biggest concern for me is the boats not the bears.

I do own Kuiu Yukon rain gear and a good set of rubber rain gear. I plan on wearing wading pants and wading boots since we are using the boat so much. Should make getting in and out easier. It is just black bears on the island but I hear it is extremely thick inland. Hopefully we aren’t chasing...

Cruising the shoreline and glassing from boat was my main strategy at this point. I’ve watched all the videos I could find on it and that seems to be the way most were doing it. Thanks for the tarp idea also. Would be nice to get a break from the rain once in a while.

I leave first of May for Kamchatka peninsula for brown bear then straight to Kuiu island Alaska for black bear. Have a deer tag for Montana this fall. See if we can find any pheasants in Montana also them home to Michigan for deer and turkeys. Should be a busy year

It’s around 6 miles from pow. I read an article not long ago saying Kuiu is one of the top spots for really big bears. Sounds like if we can hold out and do our job judging size we have a chance at some really big bears
