Anybody have a rifle malfunction that made them say what!

A friend of mine killed a friend’s Chevy truck “twice” with a Model 70 Winchester in .338 WM. fired from inside the cab. Not recommended, especially with a late ‘60’s with a nearly all metal cab interior. The trigger had been adjusted, apparently the “jam nut” was not sufficiently “jammed”...

    Bear protection handguns?

If ya handload, any of those magnums will "end to end" most any bear using a heavy, fairly high BHN @ around 1200 mv. as per the late John Linebaugh…….who did extensive testing with bigbore revolvers on various large animals. That will help reduce recoil to a pretty comfortable range. You...

    Bear protection handguns?

Not saying easy, but long shots are likely wasted shots. If one can maintain their composure….a good hit at under 10 feet is a lot easier than a shot at 10 + yards. Also, when you shot a bear, it must be justified by the investigating officers. It matters not what you see as justifiable! memtb

Interesting article on bear spray vs. bear handgun defense

If a 10 mm is great for stopping a rampaging grizzly, a 22 LR should be more than enough for a human! 😜 memtb

    Bear protection handguns?

Ya don’t shoot them at 50 yards…..ya shoot them at very near “point blank” range. Pretty hard to miss at 5 to 10 feet! And you better not miss……or someone else will be telling “your” story! memtb

    Bear protection handguns?

The exact reason that I’d love to get a 5” S&W 460 XVR for those times when out, but not hunting! If I’m hunting is either the rifle or the 8 3/8” XVR…..never both at the same time! When hunting anywhere but wide open country, the rifle or the handgun will be in hand…..neither...

    Polar bear defensive handgun

No personal experience…..just opinions. No doubt, they will penetrate. But IMO, they will not create the amount of permanent damage or transmitted hydraulic shock due to their design as compared to a flat nosed bullet! I think that their videos shown with gel are a bit...

downandlow……I wish to say Welcome from North Central Wyoming! In reading you're post, I'm inclined to believe that you know Calvin! So, it's already too late to warn you about with whom you associate! 😜 In spite of your misguided youth….I offer a sincere welcome. I suspect that Calvin...

    short vs long mag

Calvin, thanks for opening-up and sharing. I’m sure that you must feel better about “coming out”! 🤪 I too must confess, I have one short action rifle which I actually like a great deal. It’s a .223 Rem……I like to think of it as a 22 Magnum. I guess that I have some sort of magnum fetish. 😜 memtb

Who Has Purchased Dies, Then Purchased a Rifle For Them?

I bought a bunch of dies at a yard sale, most of which I had no rifles for. I still don’t have rifles for some of those dies! memtb
