I use 79g of H1000 with the 200gELDX and have used this load for many years. I am using Norma brass and at times i see pressure signs in the summer. I usually will back off the powder by .2 in the warmer months but the WM likes a compressed load of slow powder.
I have both and lean towards the xbolt as it fits me better than the tikka, also the rubber stock coating is good in wet/cold conditions with the xbolt. The 60 degree bolt lift is amazing when having to cycle to another round quickly and having large hands my thumb doesn't hit the side of the...
No not with the 338, I usually just hunt with my 300 win mag. It is a bit lighter and doesn't chew up the meat as much. I am mainly just hunting deer and bear so don't need much more than the win.
I agree completely, I stopped cleaning my brass years ago and I have never looked back. I just clean the case shoulder and neck with steel wool before full length sizing. I use home made lanolin spray for the case lube and clean out the necks after sizing with alcohol and a Q tip. The carbon...
I do everything the same except the sizing wax and dry lube. Do you think that if I used hornady one shot instead of sizing lube on the outside that it would affect the graphite (it gets clumpy when wet)? I have the redding beads
I am sure that would make a big difference, I will give that a try.
What do you use to lube the outside of the case and do you use the graphite before you lube the outside or after?
Also for the most part do you full length resize?
I am with you on the not cleaning except for the outside. As for the necks i do the same thing with the nylon bore brush (i find the bore brushes better than the stiffer RCBS nylon brush). However after i run the brush through I use the Q tip with alcohol on the inside of the neck and that is...
The one issue with not cleaning the carbon out is that it is not always consistent. I clean the inside of the necks with alcohol and a Q tip and the amount of carbon that comes out equally is never consistent. Some have a tone and some hardly any, so your neck tension will vary greatly...
It looks to me like a cougar or a bear. Due to them wanting to bury it but probably a cougar because it was licked clean. Bears tend to chew a bit more. Cougars will rip out bits of fur but bears can strip the hide off in pieces. Was there any evidence of hide pieces? I have studied my bone...
So in your opinion what would the refraction be mainly at any distance, up and down or side to side? It seems to me like it would be a correction mainly up and down or is it random?
