While I get what you are saying, I can't afford misses on coyotes and hope for a follow up shot. They are in the next county (usually) after that first shot. I would rather have a good guess to start with.

I am a firm believer in "bring enough gun." Though a .17 could do it under the right circumstances, what are the odds you will have the right circumstances? I too would say go with something more like a 6mm, or .243 at a minimum. Mark
