Thanks for posting… and good work
Looks like Hornady is (once again) reinventing the wheel?
As far as I understand is the GMX with heat tip? And they are selling it like a New product… Not blaming them… hornady selling/promotional Team seems like the best for me LOL… but I’m not into that...
Why do you assume you will be wasting components?? Maybe it shoots well!!
Just pick 3 or 5 and shot it at a hundred. For sure you will be around 150fps slower than other ammo but... you may have 80 accurate rounds
JMTC...
Hi there!
I have not purchase factory ammo for years. Yesterday the guy at the gun shop gave me a box of Hornady Custom ammo. It's 180 interbond 300 holland&holland.
Later I checked the rounds and they have cannelure (like SST bullets).
Maybe a "bad" batch of ammo... or Hornady is producing...
Hi there MagnumManiac...
No intend to keep "fighting" (even if I was some upset due to your confirmations about my experience without knowing anything about me)
I just want to mention that I have been giving advice based in my experience and not in "interweb" readings.
Regarding your last...
Don´t discard this as a viable option for the next years where you can´t source bullets...
In the german colonies in Africa, many people used the "poor white rifle", a 9,3x62 M98 rifle. They used to buy factory ammo, pulled the bullets and seated them again upside-down as cheap "solids"...
Noooooo way!! Far more easy to open them up and use 50bmg primers. You also save 2 gr of powder due to primers being hotter LOL
We should take a look in order to learn how to refill primera too... i think you could get C4 to refill (one pound last a couple thousands primers)
Hi Cody
This post, I think, confirmed my comments.
If the OP will use 7 RM (as many suggested), the false shoulder will be the same steps (one) as fully resizing. It´s easier as he doesn´t need to check for chamber or brass dimensions... just adjust die by trial until bolt closes with some...
No more fight from my side!! :)
Sure I did that... 264 WM was the first cartridge I reload for, and the first time I posted here was seeking advice for this round!
In any case, as per MY experience, the first shot with a belted case can cause a great affect in the case web. If your chamber is...
BTW... When I started to use the fase shoulder, all went perfect... There should be something wron with my dies or the brass... as they don´t know that the belt should hold the case and the case head will not stretch... such a mistery
Dear Magnum Maniac,
I´m not going into a debate... The same way you don´t like "people reading things in the interweb" I don´t like people setting their correct position as a matter of fact.
As per you "Please check your facts before going by what you heard, and not what you have...
Hi!
I have seen problems with "full sized" belted magnums... The case will headspace in the belt -FULLY AGREE- but during fireforming, the case blow the shoulder and AT THE SAME TIME, the case web will stretch. This will make the case life shorter, and -depending on your chamber tolerances-...
