I finally got the gun and was able to fire some test loads. I've posted that data in this thread. I appreciate the offer to run some data through QL - the H2O capacity is 104.3 gr (empty = 225.3, full = 329.9). I look forward to the results. Thanks.

It took a lot longer than I thought to get my gun back, but it is here now and I've started testing loads. Here's the test data from today with temperatures close to 70F. There were no significant pressure signs with any of the loads (only a couple of minor flattened primers). These are one shot...

Have your received the scope and mounted it yet? I'm curious what your opinion is now. I'm considering getting the Viper HS LR for my 340 WBY. I'd like to know how it holds up under that level of recoil.

Beretzs, that's a ton of data and is truly awesome. Thank you very much. I can use this to validate or (in the case of my H1000 loads) invalidate my assumptions. Looks like I have a few bullets to disassemble now but glad to do so. I was nervous as soon as the first one crushed.

Started working on loads with the H1000 (I already had this on the shelf.) Best estimate is a starting load of 80.0gr behind the Barnes 280gr LRX bullet. Potential maximum is 88.0gr. The starting load was crushed with the bullet. I stopped loading at 83.0gr. I'll test these four for starters...

Thanks for all the data guys. I'm going to work with IMR 7828 and H1000 for starters. I'll start working up the loads and post what I find when finished. Should be a month or so. If they don't work, I'll be back looking for more advice. Regards.

FWIW - I called Barnes today to see what they had. He said to use any data for a 275gr bullet for either the 265gr or their new 280gr LRX bullet and use the slower burning powders to get better velocities - H1000, IMR 7828, etc. Doing some online search, I've found the following starting loads...

That's good data Lefty. Thank you! I'll need to go grab a Hodgdon manual. It appears I should be okay adding one grain for the 265gr bullet and subtracting one grain for the 285gr bullet for the starting load and working from there up. Now to run the ballistics and see which one produces...
