1016 yard black bear kill by Shawn Carlock

I also learnt a ton from all the old timers and appreciated their knowledge. I don’t post any longer but ended up buying a .375 AM and .338 AM from Kirby and have taken several long range mule deer, antelope and elk with them. Amazing pioneers!

For the guys who hunt LR with heavy rifles, a question:

Since it’s not mentioned I use the hip belt for my G3 sniper Eberlstock with a holter attached to it and carry 14 + lb rifles all day comfortably on my hips. I can’t use a sling that long. Allows for very quick shooting. I’d need be I use one of their smaller pack on my shoulder with their...

Dual loading for African Plains game?

I ve been on multiple trips to Africa and while for elk, mulies, antelope I use Berger’s or SMK, for Africa plains as pointed out you need a bigger and more solid bullet. Yes, the PH have found TSX do very well and that s my experience with 30-378 WBY, .375, .458 Lott, and .577 NE. Except...

Curious what is preferred single shot or a repeater?

I have three (.338 AM, .375 Snipetac, .375 AM) 2000 yds plus hunting rifles and even my magazine fed .375 AM I shoot single shot. I worry about the recall affecting the seating or tip etc. secondly, I shoot from a rest with front and rear piece supports and the five or ten round mags get in the...

Rangefinder and weather data recommendations for ELR with 338 Allen Mag

I have one and it’s extremely accurate. I ve shot 5 shots into 6” or so at 2650 yards. I use a Vectronix 15c but there are cheaper options. For scanning I use a Leica with range finder and they correlate but it doesn’t have the range. The Kesterel with AB is spot on.

    Best rangefinder for elr

I ve had a Vectronix 15 c for many years and ranges out to 5100 yds. Never had a problem. My Leica binocular calculator is not as good as AB but the distance ranging matches Vectronix. Had problems with my Sig 2400 and just could not get it to work well. Optics to me were poor compared to the...

    375 cheytac bullet suggestion

Thanks Osoh. Very informative. Will the 400gr Flat line work in a .375 AM 10 twist? Any experience hunting? Dave Viers was going to build me a .416 VM but it never happened but would have been interesting. Look forward to your experience.

    375 cheytac bullet suggestion

Osoh Thanks for your thoughts and insights. Maybe I ll try your Flat lines. I got my reloading setup from you for my Snipetac after Dave Viers failed to deliver. I seem to recall you working on a higher velocity .375? Did you decide not to go ahead with that or did you find problems like...

    375 cheytac bullet suggestion

I was just reading about the Enabler setup. $20,000 !! Has anybody experienced velocity variation and measured it with more rounds? Sure you need to clean the AM s after 30 shots or so. Yes, the case life on the Snipetac at 3000 fps is better than the AM s at 3270 but the higher velocity gives...

    375 cheytac bullet suggestion

Thanks everybody for the update on your experience. I keep hoping for a new bullet and wonder if anybody has experience with the Flatline on game. I just reloaded a couple of hundred rounds of SMK for my 375 AM and as Roy in Idaho says they work well. I found them accurate to 2400 yds and have...

    Transonic flight

My AM .338/505 at 3270 fps is very accurate to 2650 yds but I could not get it to 3100 yd going transonic with Berger 300 gr. Used AB. If I had time I d try to figure out the transonic numbers.

    Best Range-finding Optic

Newcon scope looks very interesting especially the 3000 m version. I cannot find any reviews particularly optics quality. Any body with either RF or spotting experience ?

    375 cheytac finally finished!

I use 134 gr Retumbo for 350 gr SMK in my Snipetac and 141 gr ,for my Allen Magnum.

    Best Range-finding Optic

I like the Leica RF but have told them a 15x would be better. I believe there is one in Europe. I ve been disappointed with the Sig 2400 for longer ranges but AB is a better program. My Vectronics 15c is the best and has ranged to 5100 yards but hardly needed. It’s always reliable to 3000 or more.
