Can anyone share their experience experience hunting with the 152 or 166 shock hammer bullets? We're looking for a lead free woods hunting load in a 10 twist 30-06. I'm more interested in a quick knock down than long range performance in this setup.
Switch to CCI primers. They are a little wider than Winchester and federal, so they stay tight in the pockets. Also consider backing off the charge a bit.
I have 7wsm Winchester brass fired at least a dozen times with no issues, just annealed every 4 to 5 firings to prevent split necks.
I don't believe you will reliably achieve 160 grain projectiles near 3000fps from a7-08 size case, even blown out, without a very long barrel.
I run 3070fps with a162 Amax in my 7wsm with a27 inch barrel, using 68 grains H1000.
Maybe you could do something impressive with the 155 absolute...
My experience using a ruger 77 was that the brass didn't last long, lots of split necks. Couldn't use the 40 gr vmax because of mag limitations. The 35 gr vmax worked great with lilgun.

I have the 6.5 cal 127 gr LRX which don't work in my 8.5 twist 6.5-06.
