I have had a r30 for about 9 months now. I like everything except the weight. When I originally bought it they claimed 10.1 ounces with direct thread. After I got mine after a year wait it weighed in at 14.1 which is substantially heavier than they originally stated.

I’m not sure where you got 5/8x24 is the minimum but my 358 Winchester and my 35 whelen are both threaded 9/16x24 and I run my omega 36m on them without issue. Direct thread
I have had an omega 36m for 15 months and am very happy with it. I have run it on guns from 6mm creedmoor on up to my 358 Winchester and 35 whelen with no issues. I never have used it on a handgun or full auto and don’t plan too so I can not help there.

Yes, I actually had er Shaw rebarrel one for my dad in 6.5x284 (action had sentimental value or I wouldn’t have built it). I had to do a ton of modifications to get that darn thing to feed properly
He has killed a few animals and shot it a fair amount with no issues. Wish I could convert it...
Nitrite or Melanite process done to all the parts is really the only answer to trully rust proof a rifle inside and out. I have had a few complete guns done and They refuse to rust.
