    Mcmillan bedding job gone wrong

Your a good man Shep, I float the same boat. Vets and first responders get discounts or free work, small jobs are always free. Makes dinner sort of lean at times but in our profession it's about service. I don't agree with your thoughts about being able to repair the bad job but I do believe...

    Mcmillan bedding job gone wrong

The base structure of the stock has been cut and whittled away to do a really bad bedding job. That damaged the stock in itself. Then the bedding compound soaks into the stock material, all that has to be taken out to lay new compound in further weakening the stock. Be it wood, laminate...

    Mcmillan bedding job gone wrong

My background? 2 years at gunsmithing school, 5 years advanced firearms engineer school then 38 years as a gunsmith. In my opinion the poor job done can not be cleaned up. One could re-bed and fill but the added weight and multiple layers of beding would be bad news. Any reputable gunsmith would...

    Mcmillan bedding job gone wrong

First off, as a gunsmith I would be embarrassed to have sent that out the door. Local gunsmiths have a reputation to uphold, demand a refund and a new stock from him or destroy the reputation. The stock is ruined, it is no longer a safe stock. In a bedding job material is added to in order to...

    Which new lathe?

I run my own gunsmithing shop, use the grizzly gunsmith 14X14 every day, I have for 9 years now. It still holds tolerance like brand new, it is still straight and true I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Save the money by the tooling and oil trust me.

    Any here using Bertram brass.

I've been shooting a long time now. Getting too old to be as steady as I was when I was a sniper in the military, a long long time ago. I still shoot today and enjoy the mornings spent shooting balls at 2 miles with my sons, one of which at 16 is getting much better than I am, he has far...

    Any here using Bertram brass.

Well I shoot 2000 + targets with bertram brass, but I use it in Wyoming, I have great success with it. I guess it doesn't matter. If you use it and it works, then it works. If you use it and it doesn't work, could be geography.

    E. A. Brown Accuracy Barrel

I have been a gunsmith for 35 years now, built many custom rifles, and ironically fixed several of the above mentioned chambers. When using once fired brass I always suggest you full length size the first time in the chamber. After that the brass fire forms to that chamber and you should only...

    Do Primers Go Bad

Oil, dirt, moisture, a lot of things can ruin primers, especially if you talk to the primer manufacturer that SELLS them. In practice, try to keep your hands clean but don't fret the small stuff and you will be ok.

    Any here using Bertram brass.

I use it is several calibers with great success. Sub moa past 500 yards on most. I would grab it if you can get it

    I can’t figure this out

It's not really that weird. Muscle tension and anticipation or apprehension of the upcoming shot could explain the first few shots. After those were over you relaxed and your group came in to play, your breathing relaxed, all the elements of long range shooting fell into place. I wouldn't change...
