First elk hunt. Leaning toward Tikka

I know there are a ton of Tikka lovers on this forum (and likely for good reason) but personally, I feel my Browning X-Bolt in 7mm Rem Mag is probably just as good. 160gr Accubonds moving around 3,000 will be good to 550-600+ Sounds to me like your outfitter may have had some bad experience...

Yet another caliber comparison. 300Win Mag or 7mm rem mag

I'm a .270win lover of old. I now have and love my 7mm just as much, maybe a little more. I like to shoot the 160gr Accubonds. Felt recoil is minimal and the caliber is effective out to distances beyond what I hunt at.

What rifles have fancy wood stocks?

Browning's White Gold Medallion, Medallion and their Maple stocks are all quite nice. Not as showy as some of the custom ones but also not as expensive.

    Setting up dies "properly"

Paradise? That would be nice. I've never annealed any brass, I've read a little bit about it but will need to do some more self educating on the process.

    Setting up dies "properly"

I figured it was. It seems like brass could grow even more than it did on the first firing because I can easily rechamber a once fired case with no resistance. My plan for now is to shoot new brass once, neck size only, fire again and see what it's measurements are and set the dies to bump...

    Setting up dies "properly"

That stuff looks like more of a hassle than anything. I'd be better off filling the chamber with melted wax and letting it cool. No thanks

    Setting up dies "properly"

The good folks at Innovative state that their die does not cause brass to flow forward like normal dies. They told me "Our die squeezes brass inward not upward so it will not add additional length." as stretching the case was also my concern. That doesn't mean I have to have it. I'm just...

    Setting up dies "properly"

I've been able to find LEE Collet neck sizers but am not seeing a collet die that resizes the body down to the belt. Do you have a link or is the NS the one you are referring to?

    Yes. Well said J E.

    Setting up dies "properly"

I've also sent an email to the maker of that collet die with some additional questions. I like the concept and simplicity. I may end up with one just because.

    Setting up dies "properly"

What other methods are you referring to? The collet die that sizes all the way to the belt? I may go that route someday. I've never really had the desire to load brass up to 20x as they claim. I think it would take me a lifetime to get me there as well. I'd be fine being able to reload...

    Setting up dies "properly"

Back at it tonight. Took some of my 4x fired (FL sized each time) that measured 2.1215 or so, resized several until I got a nice fit in my chamber. 2.1215 would close but not happily. 2.1205 would close but still too tight. 2.1190 was a nice fit. 2.1185 is a nice fit with a little insurance...

    Setting up dies "properly"

thank again rsmithsr that makes a bit more sense. For someone like me that has observed a once fired case flow from the fired size of 2.1185 up to as much as 2.124 during the sizing process before being bumped back to the chosen size of say 2.1165 (.002" bump back for example only, but also...

    Setting up dies "properly"

I read the whole story of how he came up with this idea and how it serves the purpose of resizing that little bit of the case wall that other dies miss. Seems like a good way to resolve an issue where your brass has expanded in that area to the point it will no longer fit in your chamber...

    Setting up dies "properly"

So, if all 4 cannot be correct (truth is always a matter of perspective) which one would you propose is the correct one? Surely we can't just leave the brass as is and keep shooting it endlessly. Some form of sizing is going to have to take place at some point. FL sizing my brass...and I do...
