    Enlarging composite stock barrel channel

Hello, Just opening up a barrel channel of a McMillan Hunters Edge isn't going to really hurt it, right (provided it is within reason...this is a barrel contour similar to a Douglas #3, which Stockys says is the max)? Once I remove that material, do I just coat it with the bedding material and...

    Fixed parallax?

I've been looking at scopes in the 2-10x range, and there are Schmidt and bender scopes without parallax adjustment, the nightforce 2.5-10x32mm doesn't have parallax adjustment, some Zeiss duralyt, etc.

    Fixed parallax?

I notice several high end scopes with fixed parallax...how limiting is this? Do you notice it? Does it affect how you aim at longer ranges? I've only ever had scopes with adjustable parallax...what do you gain and lose with fixed versus adjustable parallax?

    Reloading for an SR-25

So the ammo I'm seeing available with the 175gr are ASYM, Nosler and Lapua with their Scenar-L. Any idea how the last two do in gas systems? The sr-25 I have is from the pre-ban era with the threads for the suppressor in front of the gas block, and has the carbon fiber hand guard. If the only...

    Reloading for an SR-25

Thanks for the info, is there factory ammo that is equivalent to the military match stuff? I know some factory loads run hot, and I should probably avoid those. Thanks again, Ken

    Reloading for an SR-25

I know this gun was designed for the military match ammo, using a 168gr bullet, but what powders are safe to use? I know gas systems can't take the abuse a bolt gun can, and don't want to damage this gun. I have varget, h4350, vv n150 and h335 on hand. I also only have fed gm210m primers...

    Rem700 LA caliber options?

Well, I just want to know what are the largest case diameters and longest case lengths usable in a rem700 long action. Thanks, Ken

    Rem700 LA caliber options?

What are the limits on a rem700 long action if you want it to be a repeater and safely handle the pressures? Thanks, Ken

Carbon on the outside of the case neck after firing?

So I'm trimming to the recommended 1.840", I know the chamber will be 1.850", should I not be trimming this short? Thanks, Ken

Carbon on the outside of the case neck after firing?

In the different loads I've tested, the most accurate at 100 yards leaves carbon around the necks of fired cases(ie almost black). A slightly hotter load I found more accurate at 600 yards leaves much less carbon on the case necks(some slight carbon deposits). Additional info: 6.5x47 130gr...

    Donut formation question

Hello, I have some brass that I neck turned that has been fired 4x. If there is no donut formation at this point, would you expect to see it in the future? Thanks, Ken

Choice of long range test loads based on overall group size or vertical group size?

Re: Choice of long range test loads based on overall group size or vertical group siz I ran a pressure ladder test, but was getting odd results from compressed loads, and was seeing that from 40.0gr...I don't think I could fit 45.0gr in a 6.5x47 case and be able to seat a bullet...

Choice of long range test loads based on overall group size or vertical group size?

Re: Choice of long range test loads based on overall group size or vertical group siz Update: I loaded some up at 39.0gr and shot an informal 600 yard match. Load data changed slightly, as I had some issues with neck sizing related in another post I made. Once fired brass, neck sized in a...

    Neck tension?

Yes, I am neck turning. 6.5x47 Lapua Saami specs say loaded rounds should have neck diameters of 0.291" Used a Sinclair expander to get every neck round (the shipping dented some necks), and to get them all the same diameter. Skim turned neck walls to 0.0125".

    Neck tension?

Original variables: 0.289" loaded neck diameter. 0.287" bushing. New brass sized to 0.2875". Got great groups. Once fired neck diameter 0.293" Using the same 0.287" neck sizer that I used on the new brass got me 0.289" after neck sizing. I could move the bullets in and out of the case...
