Hear, Hear I am with you buddy all the way! The Biggest rifle I own is a 300 WM and I don't need a muzzle break. When I can not take the recoil I will take up knitting lol :D
I did this and have an amazing long range rifle that will kill anything in North America and it weights under 10 lbs.
Buy a Weatherby Ultra Lightweight in 300 Win Mag, I use Nosler ABLR's in 190 grain and am getting similar velocities and energy as a 338.
Have your gunsmith swap out the barrel...
My best deer rifle is a M1917 Enfield 30-06 with a custom walnut stalk, I use Winchester Super X, because this particular rifle loves them. Drops them in their tracks every time :cool:

Is it shooter dependent since all shooters are not created equal, is it scope dependent since all scopes are not designed for Long Distance Shooting and are not created equal or is it a distance over a certain...
A lot of people I know love Nightforce that's for sure!
When I built my long range rifle I selected the Huskemaw over the Nightforce, if the Nightforce was lighter than the Huskemaw then I would have selected it over the Huskemaw.
Come to think of it I recognize that picture from Alberta Outdoorsman I believe. The whitetail I posted in my avatar is also from Alberta, he scored 203 B&C Typical. Just cant beat deer hunting in Alberta!
