The liability of a home made suppressor would prevent me from every buying one or even paying the tax for a free home made suppressor. Other than the liability issue, you will never find a home made suppressor that will perform like a factory built suppressor.

I burned out a 204 barrel with about 3500 rounds over a few years shooting PD’s. I can imagine a 20 Nosler would be a real barrel burner with little advantage in performance.

Nobody mentioned it yet but if you go to a PD town, you should take 2 rifles. A 204 and a 223 are a great compromise. Your comment about looking for ammo gives the idea that you are not a reloader since shooting factory ammo in PD towns will get very costly.

I will comment that I had and sold one of the Sako 22 PPC single shot rifles I think 2 years ago and after I listed it, the email responses were ridiculous. Good luck in your search!

For your first trip I would recommend a guided / pay to play hunt. This will allow you to get some shooting done instead of driving around aimlessly looking for a land owner… Many of the ranchers own so much property that it is hard to actually find where they live to even ask for permission...

The above chart and information regarding the 204 is spot on. Don’t believe what some say about the 204 drifting more in the wind than the 223. I got about 3500 rounds of 204 through my Cooper before it had to be re-barreled. I shot it for three years on prairie dogs and know I heated it up...
