Experience with Hornady SST on deer?

I hunt with a 6.8 AR and last year I switched to SST 120g bullets. Took a 260lb Kansas Whitetail Buck with it. Only a 50 yard shot head-on. Absolutely liquified his internals after going right through his heart. Devastating result.

.22 MAG too small for coyotes???

Yeah, there are a couple of know it alls who believe their opinion is the only correct one. The OP's question is ".22 MAG too small for coyotes???", not "what is the perfect coyote round?" 5 of 6 coyotes I've taken this year are 22 magnum victims and the other was with 22lr. The answer to the...

.22 MAG too small for coyotes???

Nah, I just have a low tolerance for a$$holes. I apologized and that tool tells me to be an adult and gives me a lecture, nice.

.22 MAG too small for coyotes???

Thanks for the lecture Professor. I thought I closed out the ****ing match with my apology, but apparently you're the kind of guy who likes to pick at scabs...looking for the "ignore" button as I hope you'll do for my posts. Have a wonderful day. Edit: cool, the ignore function works perfectly!

    yotes in SE Ga

Low light times would be best for calling in my experience, but have seen them respond mid-day in colder weather. As far as your rifles go I'd let the distance you maybe shooting determine it. If 150 yards or less and you're a great shot you could make head shots with the .17, but if you can...

.22 MAG too small for coyotes???

One of the reasons I shoot the 22 mag for everything up to yote size is that it is very cheap to shoot and i'm not a fan of recoil. With my heavy barrel semi-auto being so heavy the rifle barely moves when i squeeze the trigger. I also like the fact that it is relatively quiet. At only about...

.22 MAG too small for coyotes???

Sorry for the cheap shot, but I don't like being called a liar by people I've never met.

.22 MAG too small for coyotes???

The yote I shot tonight, photo above, was hit low in the boiler room, I assume heart shot, and she dropped right there. End of story. If you don't believe it then there's absolutely nothing I can do to prove it. I'll try to video the next one so you can see what good shot placement is/does.

.22 MAG too small for coyotes???

Another answer to the question...nope 22 mag is just fine at reasonable distances. The one below was DRT, didn't even twitch, at 83 yards. Using Hornady Critical Defense 45g 22 mag ammo again. Remington HB 597 with Redfield 3-9 Scope. For you guys dissing the 22 mag, I've not lost one yet...

    Kansas 2012 Squirrel Opener

Luckily I had a wooded draw with a dirt road through it and hunted from our private road so only got two ticks. Going to have our first annual Tallgrass Lodge Guide Squrrel hunt/competition. 5 rounds per person, 5 squirrel limit. Head shot kill gains fifty cents, miss and body shots cost one...

    .22lr opinions wanted

Dropped a small coyote this morning while squirrel hunting. Ruger 10/22 Carbine with Win 22LR ammo. Headshot at 25 yards. I would stick to headshots and 50 yards or less with 22lr. [/IMG]
