Since I made the last post about the '86 40/82 I have noticed the Win. currently makes a model 1886 "Extra Light Rifle". It looks identical to the one I have.
Did Winchester make this model originaly? Could I have an Original extra light rifle?
I have a '86 win. 40/82 handed down from my great grandad. I'm not interested in selling it, just curious what it is worth?
So here's the kicker.....he "customized" it long ago. I believe it would have originaly came with an octogon barrell, and full length magazine? correct?
It now has a round...
I have been so busy lately that I have slacked somewhat in my search for CA aoudad info. A few months back I spent some time looking around for it and pretty much found out that there is sheep on the Hearst Castle ranch and there is a number of them on the lands around the Hearst Ranch. Looks...
I like the rifle. SpencerSS
The 300 W would be a bit louder in an AR upper than a bolt wouldn't it?
I am interested in either the 300 Whisper or 308. have'nt made up my mind on which one's better yet.
Thinking I like the Idea of them in a bolt gun best. but would be really cool in an AR too.
In...
I bought my first suppressor a couple years back for a .22. I built a rifle with a Tactical solutions action and barrel, Volquartsen trigger, houge stock and burris 3x9 ballistic plex .22LR scope. I think it's really cool. Just last month I went and bought a Walther P22 pistol with a treaded...
muleyman, Thanks for the post. Any little bit of info helps me compile a picture of where they are down there. I have talked to a guy from the santa barbara aria that said there is some free ranging in the mountains down there. most from a herd that escaped from the hearst castle ranch back in...
I have killed many bears with my 270 in years past and it's done a good job. The last two I killed were taken with my 8mm rem mag which should be pretty close to your 338 and I thought it did a fabalous job. not too much damage. bears are tought animals, if you wanted to use a 375 for them it...
great info. After reading and talking to a couple local smiths I had decided that when I do decide to finaly start my high horsepower 6mm it will be either a 6/284 or a 6-06. Leaning twards the 6-06 for now. Haven't heard much downside of either besides the barrel life issue. But when builind a...
I have a friend that was asking me about the 300 whisper round the other day and I couln't answer his question.
What he wanted to know was how much killing power could he get out of the sub-sonic whisper?
I assume it would be enough to kill a coyote (that's what I told him anyway).
But he wanted...
Very interesting. I have a few rifles I would like to build as funds allow me to. I had been playing with the idea of the 6x45 as I would like to have a small round that shoots a 6mm bullet. I had no idea there was a 6mmfireball. I guess I better do more research before I decide on doing one or...
My dad has a 204 that I use whenever I want to so I'm more interested in a 221fb than a 20vt at this time. What my gun safe is missing is a centerfire 22 cal.
I have looked at a rem700 chambered in the round but was looking for a little smaller (weight/size) rifle.
I guess my question is...
I have been compiling information on where to hunt aoudad (barbary) sheep in centeral california.
I still need to find someone that is willing to let me in on some information which I know goes against most hunters beings.
I would really like to get enough info to plan a hunt there next...
I do reload and have looked into the 20 VT, What a burner!
Is the 221FB and 20VT's case the same diam. as the 204?
Are you suggesting I keep the 204 barrel on the rifle after the build or would I still need a new barrel?
If I wanted to stay with the 221fb, what would be the optimum caliber to...
Good stuff. I like the idea of the fireball. the bee and Khornet are intriquing little rounds too.
Does anyone make the bee in a bolt gun? Or do people build them in bolts?
Also, if I wanted to build a 221 FB what action would I start with?
