H1000 or Retumbo with New 168/175 LR Accubonds?

To spin this topic back up, does anyone have a good load recipe for 150-grain (or 168-grain) Nosler Accubond LRs for 7RM? The load data books do not show H1000 or Retumbo as options and those are my "go-to" powders. Thanks in advance for sharing. I am hoping these Tangent ogive bullets are a bit...

    Rifle Cleaning

I shoot my rifles dirty. I will generally clean carbon every 100 rounds or so, but I do not clean copper unless the groups start to spread. When I was new to long-range shooting, I would fully clean (carbon and copper) after every shooting session. I found my "shooting dirty" strategy to...

Different State - POI Change....is this normal?

Well, depending on the powder you are using, you can see a 1.5 fps to 3.5 fps variance in muzzle velocity in the same direction as your temperature change from zero. I see very little change using the Hodgdon Extreme powders like H1000 and Retumbo. For example, if the temperature went from 80F...

6.5 PRC for Extreme Long Range Hunting?

I love my Gunwerks Clymer 6.5 PRC. I have load recipes for 143 ELD-X and the 147 ELD-M. Candidly, I prefer the 147-grain ELD-M and it performs great for hunting (even though it is marketed as a target/match bullet). I have hit steel with good downrange energy and velocity at 1,200 yards, but...

6.5 PRC for Extreme Long Range Hunting?

Yes. I have a Gunwerks Clymer 6.5 PRC I built with a Titanium action and Proof Research 24" carbon barrel. I am shooting a 143-grain ELD-X and getting 2,920 velocities at the muzzle with my load. I wouldn't say I have hunted extreme long range with it, but it definitely shoots comfortably...

pet loads for 7mm rem mag

I use 140 grain Nosler AccuBonds with 65 grains of IMR4350, CCI250 primers and Nosler brass. I get 0.667" groups at 300 yards. Chronograph at 3145 fps. I will pull my reload data for 160 NAB, 150 NBT and the Swift Scirroco. The Scirroco was my favorite before the AccuBond came along.

No load data for 6.8 SPC II

Does anyone have any good reloading data for a 6.8 SPC II? The reloading manuals only cover 6.8 SPC spec, but SPC II can tolerate "hotter" loads. Unfortunately, Wilson Combat will not public their load data for the SPC II ammunition they make. I want to use Alliant Reloader 10x (which is...

    Typical barrel life

I usually shoot in 3-shot groups. Taking at least 1 minute between shots, then letting barrel cool after 3-5 shots total. It gets warm, but I never let it get too hot to touch. Looking at my shot records, I have just over 120 rounds through the barrel. According to the calculator, barrel has...

    Typical barrel life

Thanks! Wow, I never thought a barrel would be potentially "spent" with 1,200 - 1,300 rounds...

    Typical barrel life

Is there a guideline for the "life" of a barrel? I know I am nowhere near that point (only approx. 400 rounds in Model 700 Sendero SF in 7mm Rem Mag).... I am just curious. Assume a proper break-in and using 50% factory cartridges and 50% reloaded rounds at mid to top range of powder... How...

How "important" are certain details when reloading?

Wow, a real know it all. The gentleman asked what we thought were our important things we considered in reloading. Bless your heart, sir. You simply show your ignorance with your comments. Not sure how he neck turns? Lol!
