    Thinking about THUMBHOLE stock

Just make one out of the wood you'd like. I just made one. It is laminated, but it's only 4 layers, so you don't have the "laminated" look. Mine is Hickory, which was a pain in the rear, but I'm happy with the results. I suppose it would depend on how tough your action is to inlet. Check out...

What 55 grainer for Savage 22-250?

My .22-250 has always loved the 55gr. v-max. Unfortunately, it also gets the best groups with 36.7gr of Varget. It's a screaming fast round, and I'm sure it's doing my barrel life no favors, but it's accurate. <3/4" groups at 235yds. As long as I do my part right. gun) No, I don't have a...

    Need help with velocity 22-250

I've had great results with Varget. It's proven to be very reliable in cold weather even when I've set my zero in much warmer weather. Although, my rifle likes the loads hot as well. After a ladder test I ended up at 36.7 grains behind a 50gr. v-max. It screams out at 3870, and I can't imagine...

Do you reload your own coyote ammo or shoot factory? Whats your favorite load?

I don't think I've ever shot a coyote with factory ammo. For several years now I have used Hdy. 50gr. Vmax. They have performed very well. My rifle likes them a lot and that makes me happy. Favorite recipe: Win. brass CCI primer 36.7gr. Varget 50 gr. v-max Yes, I know it's a hot load. It...

    most effective manual Coyote calls

My philosophy seems to be if it makes noise I buy it. I have predator calls from many manufacturers among other calls. If you are just starting out you'll find that closed reed calls are easier to learn and blow with consistency. Practice with any new calls you get. Remember, an amateur...

    best coyote attractor that moves

I won't say that the above mentioned thought never crossed my mind, but I've never seen it through to fruition. When I was younger I did take one of our chickens and tie it up on a stake with about a 10' "leash". Didn't get a coyote, but I didn't get in trouble from Dad either, so it was all...

    best coyote attractor that moves

Call me a tight wad or cheap skate, but most of the time I use a small dowel rod with a couple feathers tied on or a squirrel tail on that same dowel mounted on a small spring so it points up. Either way, with a very mild breeze they will each move enough to make a coyote curious.

Trying to get into coyote hunting. . . sort of lost

Welcome to the club! :) I've learned a lot from this and other forums. Read and research all you can. No matter how much you know there's always something else out there. As far as hunting land goes, a little elbow grease can go a long way. Around here I can go to almost any farmer and...

Which guns do you use for predator hunting?

My SOP is to always take two guns. My choices depend largely on the terrain. A couple of the places I hunt are pretty brushy, so I'll take the 870 super express and the .45. If I'm heading to a more open place it's the M96Swede .22-250 and the .45. I have yet to get a shot at one with the .45...
