    ISO Remington 760 or 7600

Looking to buy (or trade for?) the opposite of long range....a 760 or 7600 pump gun in 30 or 35 cal. Nothing fancy needed, hopefully good or better condition - this is going to be a tracking rifle for the close range/dense northeast and will see plenty of use and wear. Thanks and Happy NewYear!

    favorite deer caliber

The trusty 7-08 has put more meat in my freezer than any of the others. Quite happy with it and how well it shoots in the Kimber 84!

    Wolves in MT

Saw plenty of tracks in 216 during the rifle opener, walked up on a cat too! Happy to share specifics if anyone is ion that area... It was discouraging to say the least, one of the guys took a decent bear up in the crag.

Anyone use iron sights for deer hunting?

Very much so in the Northeast - we hunt dense hardwoods and swamps, especially when tracking in snow. The open sights are faster for target acquisition and it always seems that snow enters the scope just when it is most inconvenient.

Help narrowing down choice for first backcountry pack.

I've been backpacking and backpack hunting for over 20 years, as stated above - I agree and have also done more with my SG Talus than anything else. It can slim way down for a daypack and can also expand to almost 7000 for week long expeditions. As far as hauling a load, it is THE most...
