I was young and didn't know any better. I just followed the instructions from the guys I was with. A whitetail doe at 1670 with a heavy benchrest 338-378 Weatherby and 300 grain matchkings.
For a set it and forget it scope out to about 300 yards, it hard to beat a 3-9×40 from the manufacturer of your choice. I have several rifles set up like this. All are sighted in 2 inches high at 100 yards and are hold on hair out to 300 yards.
