bigedp51, I was suggesting he try sizing the case with the expander completely removed from the die. When he sees the case goes in and out properly he will know the die interior is fine and the problem is in the position of the expander.

What Nicholas said. Case may be pinched between expander ball and junction of case shoulder and neck inside die.

Measure the diameter of a 300 RUM .091" below the shoulder and it should be .526", due to the taper. So this should make the whole chamber .001" larger if you push the reamer in the extra .091" deeper. A .001" larger bulge at the base shouldn't make a difference. There should be a greater...

Not quite right. The primer fires from impact of the primer pellet situated between the cup and the anvil of the primer. It doesn't matter which side is impacted. No impact, just a gentle push should be good.

I've done lots with a regular sizing die and none have ever gone off while de-priming. Just do it gently and slowly. One primer has gone off that I had lost on the concrete floor. I stepped on it and it went off. The concrete has a rough surface and primer was probably face down and a twisting...
