hornady headspace gauge sizing question, 30-378 .420?

I don't see why it wouldn't if you are using it to set up your sizing die it's strictly a comparitor anyways. That is how I use mine anyways. Measure fireformed brass and then set up my full length sizing die to bump the shoulder back .001". A thousandth is a thousandth regardless if your datum...

    Ideal Wolf Hunting Rifle

Exactly what I was thinking. The original post was for a gas gun and this fits the bill. Available in .260 or 6.5 Creedmore, although I'd lean towards the .260 witht he availability of Lapua brass. LR-65

    Idahoans sound off.

Wow, can't believe this thread is still alive. haven't been on the forum since last October 2011, a lot happened since then. I'm now back in Salmon and loving being home. Haven't visited the forum cuz I've been spending lots of time outdoors and not much on the computer. Got me a nice 9 point...

    New deer rifle

Buy once cry once. Save and buy the rifle you want and know you will be happy with. Don't buy strictly on price point. If what you really want is out of your price range look at used rifles, local on line ads, shooting forums like this one, you just never know what you might find if you take a...

    Antiquity still kills.

Necro thread revival! The Swede kills 2 more bucks in the same field 1 year later. Our 2011 hunt went much like last year's. First night out my wife killed this nice 4x4 with one shot at 150yds, hardly long range but another bang flop kill for the 120 year old cartridge. Just for good...

B&C Medalist stock with Mauser 98 action & Timney trigger

You can easily open the area up to allow for the adjustable trigger. I have an FN 98 with a Timney Featherweight trigger and it wasn't all that difficult to fit it in the stock. Just file work.

    Hunting In Idaho?

If you buy the Whitetail Tag that entitles you to hunt in Whitetail only seasons that run clear into Dec, unit 11 opens Oct 2 and closes Dec 1. If you purchase the Regular Deer Tag you can hunt in unit 11 starting Oct 2 but it closes Nov 3. Either way Unit 11 is a whitetail only unit, you can't...

    Hunting In Idaho?

That's gonna put you in unit 39, be prepared for competitive hunting. I've had fair luck up above Arrowrock Res. There aren't a lot of roads up at the higher elevations so you find yourself either competing with the rest of Boise for the few areas where you can access the high country by vehicle...

    I'm confused, which 6.5?

I'm partial to the 6.5x55. You mentioned shooting steel and paper and the Swede doesn't have the barrel burning reputation of the 6.5-284, so longer barrel life. A lot of your benchrest types end up down loading there 6.5-284s to velocities that are easily attainable with the Swede anyways...

    SOLD/EXPIRED Mauser Action

I think you may still be a little high. I see complete rifles built on this same action for 450-500

    cabelas windshear

I've got the pull over berber hooded jacket with windshear. Very warm, almost too much unless you're sitting on a stand. It's not noisy at all but is bulky and doesn't lend itself to backpack hunting at all.

    Mauser action questions

If a Mauser action is what you really want I'd opt for a commercial FN over a military action. You are likely gonna spend a lot of money getting that action to be what you want it to be. This guy http://www.longrangehunting.com/forums/members/mauserhouser/ will be a great source of info...
