Mobile Apps- Applied Ballistic vs. Ballistic: Advanced Edition

I like both, though Ballistic: Advanced Edition, I like more. Seems to have more bullet selections, and I find it generally easier to use. Only downfall is Ballistic AE isn't available on Android, or at least that I have found.

    7 WSM Hunting Loads

Well, I did throw together some loads with H4831sc and the 145gr Barnes LRX's. As usual with practically every Sako actioned rifle I have owned, it likes the hotter loads. 66.5 grs of H4831SC, didn't take the Chrongraph, but Quickoad is saying 3136 fps. Shooting 1/2 MOA groups at 100 yards...

Finally received my Sako 75 re-barrelled in 7 WSM with a 25" 1-9 Krieger barrel I am restricted to the magazine length for seating depth. I have 145gr Barnes LRX's and 168gr Berger Classic Hunter bullets on hand. H4350, H4831sc, H1000 powder on hand. Brass is fire-formed Norma 270WSM brass...

    Barnes LRX/TTSX Success and Failure...

These are the bullets I am planning to use in my new WSM build. Wondering what speeds you are pushing them at? On the barne's question. I have killed multiple deer with Barnes LRX's and TTSX's Several LRX kills with 145gr 7mm out of a 280 Rem I used to have(around 2980fps) and out of my 7STW...

    7mm STW Reloading Thread

Just for curiosity sakes, next time you are at the range try putting the chrono out 20-30 feet from the muzzle. It was previously mentioned, the STW and I'm sure other heavy cartridges is bad for fooling Chronographs due to muzzle blast. 4100 is extremely fast, it would be interesting to see...

    Brass Preference question

I have been using Nosler Custom 7STW brass in my Sako and in my new custom rifle. It has been working well, but the price of it gags me. So I picked up 200 pieces of Remington brass recently and am considering working up my next loads using the Remington brass. Somewhere I swear I read...

7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Thought I'd post a quick video of my son shooting my Sako TRGs custom STW. Only 200 yards on steel plates, not exactly long range, but he still enjoyed it.

    am i being to picky

I load mine the same way you are talking about. 0.1 of a grain over, i dump a pinch out and re-trickle up to proper weight. Saying that, when loading for my STW, I don't worry about it nearly as much due to the size of the charge. (80+ grains of powder) A .1 variance here is minimal, but...

    7mm STW Reloading Thread

Well I have finally found some time to get out and try some loads in my custom STW. I went through the barrel break in process a while ago, but hadn't really spent much time on load development. I had worked up loads testing for pressure signs and recorded velocities, but none of the loads...

    7mm STW Reloading Thread

Your 9" twist barrel probably won't stabilize them. What will happen is you will see the bullet holes in the paper targets won't be nice small round holes. They will start leaving "Key hole" slots. That's if you can get them to hit the target at all. Sometimes an unstabilized bullet will fly...

    7mm STW Reloading Thread

Bullets require a certain spin rate to stabilize them in flight. A general rule of thumb is, the heavier (usually longer) the bullet the faster it will need to be spun to stabilize it. The Sierra 180gr you speak of, the manufacturer is recommending 1-8" twist in the barrel as a minimum...
