Thanks again, guys. My first inclination was that I should adjust my velocity, but I really want to believe that my LabRadar is accurate. I need to get the old chronograph out and double check the numbers. I don't remember the specific numbers, but when I used Strelok to calibrate the velocity...
Thanks for your input, guys, I really appreciate it. I have never used multi bc before, so I will look into that. I appreciate the photo of Litz' info as well.
So what adjusted BCs do you guys get with your velocities and twist rates? Bill, I see you TOF data, but I don't know how to convert it.
Hey all,
I did a fair amount of searching, and couldn't find a discussion of this. Sorry if I missed it!
Berger lists the g7 BC of the .338 250gr Elite Hunter as .351. I am sending it out of my 338 Sherman Short Mag at 2750 (measured on a LabRadar), 11" twist. I am using Strelok Pro for dope...
I have picked up this project again, and have made some progress. I had originally purchased a couple hundred Norma brass, but they are just too soft. I won't get into all the details, but I purchased 50 ADG cases with the 338 SS head stamp, necked up and fireformed, and that took care of the...
I don't know where my pics are, but I shot one with my 30-06, 150gr SGK, at 20 feet or so. Entrance just behind the shoulder, exiting the chest with a hole the size of a softball.
Thanks for the reply, Steve!! I am not that savvy when it comes to these things, so your input is very welcome. I was assuming that the difference was similar to the higher pressure you see in standard core bullets and copper bullets from other manufacturers, and it sounds like that might be...
Forgot to mention that the ADG brass is phenomenal! I had a norma case that would not eject (had to use a 2x4 to knock the bolt open) after running 64 grains of H100-v. Same charge in ADG showed round ejector imprints.
I also get faster velocities with the 250gr Berger Hunter Elite (2850) than...
I went to the range today to make some progress on my California hunting load. I loaded 10 ADG cases with 63.5 grains of H100-V, BR2 primers, and 236gr Hammer Hunter bullets. With the first five shots I dialed the scope in. The final 2 of these 5 hit within 1/3 moa, right at the bull. With my...
I finally fired some full-power loads today. I loaded 60-64 grains of Hybrid 100v behind a .338 250 gr Berger Hunter Elite bullet for my 338 SS. BR2 primers. I loaded in 1gr increments, using Norma and ADG brass for a side-by-side comparison.
Visually, the Norma has slightly less case...
I measured the neck thickness of the fireformed 338 SS cases (ADG). They seem to be fairly consistent, each varying between 0.0144" and 0.0145" thick when measured in multiple locations, with no neck turning. I will bring them to their final dimensions, then get them out to the range next...
Today I fireformed 10 ADG cases in my 338 SS. Case lengths after necking from 7mm to .338 but before fireforming were between 1.939" and 1.945". 7 of them were between 1.940" and 1.942"
I loaded them with 60 grains or RL 22 behind a 225 grain Hornady interlock jammed into the lands, as this did...
Unfortunately, when I tried to reach out to Axis Works to confirm that they still wanted the job, they didn't reply to email, and their voicemailbox was full. So I decided to take it to a local smith who has turned out some good rifles.
Thanks for the bump! I ran into some unexpected and disappointing delays. I sent my action to a gunsmith who is well known for his work on Savage actions, but is also well known for being very slow. I was told it would be 6 weeks to do some truing work, but it actually took 4 months. I'm told...
