Factory 338 Lapua carry rifle for hunting?

Have a look at Voere LBW, a true hunting rifle that is very light and portable, but add a muzzle brake for lr prone shooting. Very cheap too, 1/10 twist

    25-06 vs 257 wby

Yes, I use Lapua 6,5x55 brass, the flag caliber for Nordics, like 308 for American. Easy to find, to fire form and very long lasting. Tikka match long action, Krieger 1/10” barrel. 3200-3300 fps with 115 bergers, Not extreme loads. Very pleasant to shoot for youngs also

    25-06 vs 257 wby

My two cents: 257 is great, I use a 255 GS (a semi wildcat made in Italy by MAG Armi, a 6,5x55 case improved and necked down to 257). Much easier than belted mags, cheap parent cases and great- great precision. Holds wind very well up to 600 m with Berger Vld hunting 115

    6.5 creedmoor to 6.5 grendel

A kid rifle, is not a man rifle with a loaded down load. It is a rifle, a kid can feel to be able to handle, carry, clean, and finally shoot without feeling to be inadequate. Otherwise, you might buy to your 6/8 y.old son a nice 26” XL mountain bike, but mount on it smaller wheels… they are...

    6.5 creedmoor to 6.5 grendel

I grew up my 3 kids with this problem in mind, so my 2 cents of experience. NO WAY to buy for them a semiauto, big-big mistake. Semi are scaring, they give the kid The feeling that after cracking the trigger, it keeps moving, then launches the case etc. Easy for us, disorienting for them: add...

7mm-08 the forgotten 6.5 Creed Killer?

How good your R25 shoots? I have only a semiauto, a “real men one” Zastava sniper in 8x57, and thinking about getting an R25. Thanks!

Distance to lands, how close is too close?

Leaving (not a bullet, but a Berger Vld hunting) in the barrel and powder all around happened to me also, hunting in spring weather, no iusses of ice, dirt and so on. So frustrating some two hours from camp ! I was so hungry I dropped Bergers for some months, shifting to Eldx in my 257. I am...

Good article on why everyone either loves or hates the 6.5cr

Yah, that metric stuff is so boringly easy to understand... 6,5x55, x65 or x68? It’much better .300 Savage, WM, Wsm, Dakota. Who can not understand that 450 BM is 451 and 45/70 is 458? (460 Wby of course will be 460)... it might be time to leave these crazy things to England, they still got the...

    25-06 vs 257 wby

Choosing between the two... 255 Giani Special for shure. It is some years I had a custom done by Italian MAG Armi, Tikka sport action, 24 Krieger semi heavy barrel, 1:10 twist. It is about 1/4 MOA with Berger 115 Vld hunting, 1/3 with ELDX, both 48 grs Vith N 160. Made some 600 m contests also...

SIG Cross for long range hunting ??

He he, I keep loading the safeS up... for some 25 years 26/28 heavy barrels; now I am having fun with 24/20 heavies, and a pair of 16 for strict short range. Experimenting and testing is a big fun for me, both ballistically and on the terminal side. Thanks !

SIG Cross for long range hunting ??

Back, is it the 18” barrel 6,5?

SIG Cross for long range hunting ??

Thanks Knight, yours is exactly the first hand review I am looking for. Had little experience with Remington, a Police in 338 Lapua and an XCR tactical 26” in 308; none of the two was great, no more than honest. I might give a chance to the 5R... it seems I better stay with a 20 barrel, with...

SIG Cross for long range hunting ??

Well, (I mean OK, not that steel tower for oil 😁), sounds very good with factory ammo. Recoil is not an issue, toughness and reliability is and half MOA or better is enough for my hunting mid range. I only would like to have more caliber options, i.e. some more horsepower, but it does not like...
