338 Lapua base to shoulder maximum

I am going to have my gunsmith ream the old chamber out. The bolt will not close on the fired brass, and just the pressure of the extractor going over the rim causes the fired brass to stick in the chamber.

338 Lapua base to shoulder maximum

According to everything I have looked at. The base to body/shoulder junction should be 2.1614". I am using my comparator without an incert, and it sits a little above the junction. Full length sized brass measures 2.191", and fired brass measures 2.204". If my memory serves me right the max...

338 Lapua base to shoulder maximum

Just measured some fired 338 Lapua brass against some full length resized brass. I got .013 longer on fired brass measuring to the same point on the shoulder. What is the maximum stretch on 338 Lapua brass after firing?

    Humidity and load developement

The main thing this video shows is. If you are doing a Saterlee test one day, and a week later you decide to confirm your data and load up some new test rounds. The humidity difference between these two load sessions could throw your data way off.

    Humidity and load developement

There is a huge difference between benchrest and hunting. You don't get sighters when hunting so that first shot has to count. If the humidity of the powder effects velocity, and velocity effects harmonics then that quarter MOA group could now be a three MOA group.

    Humidity and load developement

In the video I watched. The guy showed velocities between rounds loaded at 90%, 38%, and 10% humidity. There was a 200 fps difference between the 10% and 90%. With the higher velocity going to the 10%. Makes me rethink my load development, and wonder just how many times I was chasing my tail...

    Humidity and load developement

Anyone test the effects of humidity changes in the reloading room while doing load development? Just watched a video on YouTube about how high and low humidity levels effect load development.

Using one die for multiple calibers

    Great idea.

Using one die for multiple calibers

I have a set of Redding dies for a 243 A.I., and I want to build either a 25-08 A.I. or a 260 A.I. I don't want to have to buy another set of dies.

Using one die for multiple calibers

Can Redding bushing full length die be used for different calibers?

    Scope reticles

Anyone know where on the internet a guy can look at different reticles? There are so many, and I do not know what all the acronyms stand for. Like to see the reticle and acronym together.

    Understanding cartridge efficiency

Has any chamber pressure testing been done on any wildcats. I have read that for an Ackley the only way to achieve higher velocities the chamber pressure must be higher. This is what I wish I had the money to do. Truly test chamber pressure between wildcats and parent case. Also cutting the...

    Understanding cartridge efficiency

I wish I had the money to get all the equipment to test different combinations. I was just thinking this morning about shape charges. Where the blast can be controlled to a certain extent by the shape of the charge. Don't know if this would transfer to chamber shape.

    Understanding cartridge efficiency

I was looking at what the 338 SS was doing with the 250 grain bullets. From some of what I have read it is getting very close to the Lapua with a lot less powder.
