The caliber comparison will turn out to be a matter of personal preference, but I can promise you, for the money you will never find a better shooting rifle than that particular model of Win.

Dont mean to be contrary, but over the years I have found H870 to be the best, but you can no longer easily find it. With that said RL22 and RL33 both do well, as well as 869, but IMO H1000 will probably get you what you want, with consistency.

Cost factor aside, I know we all feel differently about these things, but I know a couple of very experienced, expert, shooters who clean their barrels "when it needs it". More often than not they go several hundred rounds between bore cleanings.

I have one from an Accumark if that would work for you. I honestly don't know what the difference is from a Fibermark.

Definitely a spirited discussion, and I hope everybody gets over it okay :), we are here as friends. Those of us who shoot 338 LM and the 30-378, and who keep an open mind, have a pretty good idea which one hits harder. But I think some us shoot the 30-378 simply because we like it.

I do not presume to speak for everyone, but I doubt that the type of folks that spend the time and effort and money to buy and use big magnums of any caliber, are the type to expect a "free lunch", but I see your point.

I don't understand comparing 30-378 to a 338. Is that not everyone would call apples to oranges. If a shooter likes to shoot the big 30 and another prefers the 338, why does one have to be right and the other wrong, or one smart and the other not so much? And aversion to recoil is not a valid...

I have found the H1000 to be the best for me but you might want to try H869 if you are looking for a little more speed.
