I have driven by Roundup a few times. There definitely are dog towns in the area but have no idea of how to access them. I know there is at least one Outfitter in the area---try a Google search.
Good luck.

Have you been out this fall, Dave? I just got back from a few days west of Sundre. Weather conditions were poor but did get two ruffies. Will try again when conditions improve.

Years ago I had my first bob white hunt in southern George at a first rate lodge. I was heart broken when I found out it was released birds. The Outfitter relented and let me hunt a special area set aside for wild birds. After we got a few we were quickly taken back to the release areas. It...
I have shot prairie dogs with the 105 vld's and they didn't expand and ricochet across the prairie. Was using a 6br. I now use 87 Vmax and get real good expansion and a much flatter trajectory.

But if you are looking for a real big buck, say 80+, you will have to pay a premium and go with an outfitter that has top quality...
Agreed!!! For me 6x20 is minimum and I favor 8x32 these days. You can always turn down the power.
I prefer Nightforce. They are pricey but they command good resale value if you want to sell it.

They take a bit of time to use properly but once you get that figured out you'll never look back.
For the 105's you should have an 8 twist barrel for best accuracy. The 8 twist can indeed over stabilize the lighter bullets with thin jackets---I've had 87 Vmax bullets that either blew up or fired off in some weird trajectory with my 6 SLR (similar to a 243 Win)
The Berger twist calculator...
