    Help score this whitetail 10pt?

Also, after reading some of these posts about the deer being young I had to go back and look at pics. All those pics are from summer time, September and October. Of course he looks younger way back then, all deer do. Rest assured he is not a young deer. You never asked about age but thought I...

    Help score this whitetail 10pt?

I believe he had this: 15 15 That adds up to 30 which is good for a hill country deer.

    Help score this whitetail 10pt?

Looks like he included everything. What are you thinking he missed?

    Help score this whitetail 10pt?

Need more info. Looks like the hill country, but what part? Is he a native deer or introduced? If native, I can’t get him to 150”. He’s still a heck of a deer though. And I’m usually low on my score guesses. High fence or low fence doesn’t matter to me. I hunt both regularly. I love high...

    VX3HD opinions

Most of our rifles have some form of Leupold on them. Not one issue, ever. Great scopes. And the Firedot is the best thing you can ever have in a hunting scope!

    Broadhead weight on carbon arrows?

I have never heard of anyone cutting down arrows to “make” bolts. Not saying it’s wrong, just never heard of it. You might want to talk to your archery shop guys first, before shooting those.

    Broadhead weight on carbon arrows?

Getting with your local archery shop is a good start. And when talking crossbows, they are “bolts”, not “arrows”. When you find a stiff enough bolt (the proper spine for your crossbow), you should easily be able to shoot 100gr or 125’s without issue. We always just shot the biggest cut...

Does anyone hunt with 22-250 anymore?

We still hunt with it. I tend to stick with my quiet .308 and bow. But my kids (11 and 15) still love those 22-250’s. The cheap Remington 55gr PSP work great on our hill country deer and those big South Tx bucks as well. In my younger days I guided for and helped manage several ranches around...

Best hoyt model for the $ ?

Like others have said, maybe try a few different bows. I’m pretty stuck on Mathews but if I were buying a new bow I’d check out some others. Hoyts always looked like a person would get all tangled up in them.:-)

    A deer for the books

That's pretty typical of a high shot. But my point is an exit with this guy's shot placement would have made zero difference on whether or not the animal died. Heck, it ALMOST did exit, just got hung up under the skin. Non-lethal shot placement is just that. With non-lethal placement, it just...

Yessir. This I can agree with.

    A deer for the books

I’m sorry but will respectfully disagree. Just because there is an exit in no way guarantees a kill, which is basically what you are saying. A non-lethal hit is just that, non-lethal. With your theory, a deer shot through the backstraps will die if there is an exit, but might not die if there is...

    A deer for the books

In most cases I would agree with you in regards to the exit resulting in more blood loss. However, in this case it was a non-lethal shot due to placement and angle (evidence with the animal that lived for 6 months after the shot). The exit would have been too high for blood loss anyway. You do...
