The real answer here is a 6+ inch revolver in 357 or 44 mag. For whitetail, 357 is enough to go out to 75-100 yards depending on the ammo selection. The new python is an absolute accuracy beast for the money and they make a 6 inch.

6.5 PRC. Kill anything, easy recoil, available brass and projectiles, long future for the cartridge. Also could do a 308 since it doesn't seem you have one and everyone should. Super accurate, barrel will last your lifetime at least, and you already have a 300 PRC so you can build a super...

This is the truth. I grew up hunting in a t-shirt and jeans, got busted frequently, particularly when stalking or walking into the edge of a clearing. Switched to some old ASAT stuff and now I get busted significantly less. When I do get busted, half the time the deer just stare at me wondering...

I highly recommend Mike Heffron of Heffron Precision--I think he is the guy Colt recs too. Guy is a wizard with triggers/actions on the new pythons

I heard aoudad meat was terrible in every form, so I used mine for jerky only. Cut it very thin and with pretty heavy marinade. Ended up quite good

Man that surprises me. I agree that out of the box the new trigger is not as good as the old, but the 2020 pythons I've handled with a proper trigger job are better than the old that I've handled with and without the trigger job. Heffron did one that was the best trigger I've ever pulled

By the time you get a python, replace the sights, trigger job, you'd be close to the same quality revolver
