Do Nosler Partitions Group Well at High Velocity?

My experience is that NPs can group very well in all my rifles. Sometimes they aren't at the tip top of velocity, but that isn't a deal breaker for me. Their performance on game makes up for a slight lose in velocity.

    Recoil, what recoil?

    Close enough (pun intended).

    Recoil, what recoil?

Wow! Must have been from the bench. I have done similar things a time or two.

    Recoil, what recoil?

Care to share the circumstances? What rifle, etc?

    Recoil, what recoil?

I find that most folks who complain about recoil are talking about when shot from a bench. I have used up to a 338 win mag on game, and never had problems in the field. Those with medical issues, like I now have, should shoot whatever they are comfortable with, assuming it is of adequate power...

1st elk hunt need rifle advice

I would say that it is very important to hunt with a rifle you feel very comfortable with. Your 270? Or whatever caliber above that. The main thing is to practice, practice, practice. Shoot from as many positions as you can. Learn to shoot from prone position, over a backpack (or whatever you...

    .25 cal question

Now 1 in 10 twist. "And besides, I learned that early .257 Weatherby rifles often had a 1:12 twist rate as opposed to today's more common 1:10 twist, and the 117-grain loading is more appropriate for guns with that older twist rate. If you happen to have a .257 Weatherby rifle built before...

How common do you shoot better at distance?

Much depends on the conditions. Here in Wyoming, there are the rare days that aren't windy.

    Caution in the cold

Living in Wyoming for most of my life, I agree. I haven't had problems like these being described. I did have one opposite of cold temp. increasing pressure. I was shooting a 25-06 handload with IMR4350 in about -50 degree fahrenheit. As the shot, it sounded and acted like a 22 LR. With factory...

    338 win mag load

Hornady ELDX in .338 230gr - Alaska Outdoors Forums "I have loaded 230gr ELDX with 71.0 of IMR 4350 for my 338 Win Mag. i have good luck with that powder combo over the years with 225gr bullets like Part and Swift A frame. i am hesitate about using Hornady bullets but ELDX is appealing, just...

    The Rifle You’ll Never Touch

Mine is a pre-64 Winchester Alaskan 338 magnum. It was my father's for many years he had a custom stock put on it, which just happens to fit me as well. Great for killing elk, or whatever.

    25-06

I have found that 49 grains of IMR 4350 with anything in the 115 - 120 grain bullet works great in my tang safety Ruger 77 varmit work great. I have also used IMR 7828 and IMR 4831. I don't remember those loads, because the IMR 4350 is so consistent.
