For that range and that size of an animal my choice would be the 338 Lapua.
Also do a lot of practicing with the loads you are going to use and the ability to judge condition is critical.
Too many idiots here who do not even know how to read a regulation. The regulation requires the notice to be provided to the shipper. The exception is a licensee.

Times, technology, materials etc. change over time. Firearms are not even close to being manufactured the same way as they were in the 70's and 80's. There is the capability to manufacturer a better product than existed 40-50 years ago.
Most if not all of the old accuracy records in the 70's...

I also use fireforming barrels myself. No big deal, you just have to have the right equipment and someone to...
When evaluating a new tube and components I use 10 shot groups. Will tell you this---for long rang shooting a chronograph is a must if you do not want vertical dispersion. Do the math because at 1k or more it really becomes painfully apparent just what a 50fps (just an example I shoot for 15 fps...
You are 100% wrong. Just to show you this man is a HOF shooter has held world accuracy records in the past and I have spent 100's of hours in his shop. You head would explode if you were to witness even how he carefully turns brass including the lube he uses so heat will not impact the machining...
Weight is of no consequence and is a complete waste of time when it comes to brass. There is no way to correlate internal case capacity of two pieces of different brands even with different lots by the same manufacturer. Where the extra weight in a case is may or may not be in an area that...
