    Seating depth vs Pressure

My recent experience with a 300RUM mirror's SBruce's explanation. I worked my load up just touching the lands to find max load with 200 gr accubonds and retumbo. I then started seating the bullets deeper to fine tume accuracy. It surprised me when I started to show higher pressure signs as I...

What is your favorite .300RUM load?

A friend of mine who is a chemist and a shooter turned me on to it about a year ago and sent me a bag of the stuff. It is sized 70bn, yes 70 seems to be what everyone is using. He procurred it from a Canadian company. ONe of the articles I read recently, maybe in a forum someone stateside is...

What is your favorite .300RUM load?

Your welcome. I neglected to mention the biggest reason I use HBN is I am hoping to extend barrel life as I like to shoot a couple times a week. About 350 rounds this spring. Some shooters are reporting a doubling of barrel life using HBN. I guess we will see.

What is your favorite .300RUM load?

Gone Ballistic, HBN= hexigonal boron nitride is a white powder similiar to graphite, extremely slippery. Not as dirty as moly. Cleaning your barrel after using it is a breeze, virtually no copper fouling. If you are interested google "HBN coating bullets" several bench rest shooters have...

    Making 338 Rum brass

Regarding loose primer pockets in the 300 RUM which probably also relates to the 338 RUM. It has been my experience that you will get about 1 to 2 percent loose pockets on Nosler or Remington brass. I haven't noticed a difference in any of them. The RUM's produce a lot of pressure.

What is your favorite .300RUM load?

28.5 inch barrel, 91.4 gr Retumbo, 200 gr accubond HBN coated, RP Brass, .005 off the lands, Fed 215m match primers, 3144 fps, 26 fps extreme spread, .5 inch 5 shot group. I also had a very good group with the same load only .013 off the lands, my chrony quit working with this load so I don't...

    Elevation and changing zeros

jwp475, thanks for the reply. I am not questioning your answer just trying to figure out why my 100 yard zero changes. I shoot 3 different rifles out to six hundred yards. They all have bushnell elite 6500 scopes with the BDC reticle. They are 1) 358NM 2) 338WM and 3) 338-06. All of them show a...

    Elevation and changing zeros

Ok I read the sticky on altitude and barometric pressure. I am still confused. Here is my question. How do I calculate the change in my zero if I sight in my rifle at 1000 feet elevation with standard atmospheric conditions at 100 yards and actually test my drops on my BDC reticle then go to...

    Leupold Scope issue

Thanks for the replys. I am finding I am not the only one with these issues. And yes the action bases and rings were torqued to specs. Thanks again.

    Leupold Scope issue

I have an older Vari X lll 3.5-10x40 (15 yo). I have always had it on a Rem 700 adl 30-06. Always worked fine. About 5 years ago I put it on a 338 WM worked fine for about 400 rounds. Then it started not holding 0. You would adjust it and the adjustment was not related to the number of clicks by...
