    New Here

I have the Hornady and it looks like the RCBS uses the same type of power supply which steps the power down from 110v ac to 9v dc. So probably a low power usage.

    Reloading

If you are to factor in your time spent reloading you are all wrong. Remember fellers this is a hobby not a profession. I am retired now and load for everything I shoot, 5 rifles,3 pistols and 12ga. Even when I was working the time I spent at the loading bench was relaxing and rewarding.

    It happened to me

Not the powder goofup but almost as bad. I load and shoot 6mm Rem and .257 Roberts. Went to the range with both rifles and settled down and started with the 6mm. Then put it down and picked up the Roberts. First round not even close to the target, second shot no better and a dust puff off to the...

What got you interested in long range hunting?

I grew up on a ranch in south eastern Montana hunting Antelope and Mule deer with my dad and brother. I watched my dad make 400+ yard shots with a JC Higgins -06 and 4x Weaver scope. When I was going to get my first rifle dads said to get a .270 as he said it was flatter shooting than his -06...

    Hornady Expands A-Tip Lineup: .224 & .284

There have been issues with the 6.5 and the right bullet choice for light hunting. Most 6.5 bullets are for target and don't perform well as a good hunting bullet. The Hornady Amax is basically a hunting bullet. My choice for game would be the 140g Hornady interlock or the Nosler Accubond 140g...

    Hornady Expands A-Tip Lineup: .224 & .284

How much are we wiling to pay in the quest for long range accuracy? Right now I am getting acceptable results with a .36 cent bullet and hand weighing my powder charges. As for powder I am sticking with the old tried and true choices. Whether IMR, Hodgdon or Alliant they have worked well for me...

    Hornady Expands A-Tip Lineup: .224 & .284

At 75 cents a pop for my 6mm I'm gonna have to think about it.

    hearing aids anyone ?

I still owe $700 on a pair of top line hearing aids I got n June. Sure has made a difference in my life. Got the ones that blue tooth through my smart phone and I sure like all the whiz bang features. I toggle the volume all the way down when shooting and they work well for that.

SE Montana has been good to me

You were hunting in my brothers backyard. He lives north of Hardin and is married to a Crow woman. He got hid Buff about 14 years ago on a tribal meat hunt.

    Best Varminter Rifles / Calibers

Asking what my favorite Varmint rifle is is like asking which child is my favorite. Depending on size of Varmint and field conditions I can go with .204 Ruger, .222 Rem, .223 Rem. 22-250 Rem or for wind bucking on Yotes and Pdogs I bring out the 6MM Rem or the .257 Roberts.

    Notes on the Centenerian

The old veteran of many wars has proved itself on the battlefields and really stands alone as a great cartridge. It replaced the .30-03, 6mm Lee Navy, and .30-40 Krag cartridges and the rest is history. The venerable old cartridge was chambered in all the great military rifles both bolt action...

    2506 ELD X bullets

Hmmm time to get out my .257 Roberts and try some of these bullets. I have a load worked up for the Hornady 117g that I like.

    Trigger Question

I have used several Timney triggers with good results. I am also able to do a lot of my own trigger tuning as well. The only bad experience I have had was with a Basix trigger in a Ruger 77 .257 Roberts. Just couldn't get it right.

    .25 cal question

My Bob gun with 117g Hornady's do all I need it to. Best Pronghorn gun I've ever had.

    Don't shoot the Ducks!!

A rancher friend of mine had an old horse that needed to be put down. The feller just couldn't do it himself as he had had the old horse since it was a colt. So he asked me to do it the next time I was out his way. So the next Saturday me and Billy Bob are going out to the range for some...
