Norma used to use M96 actions for all of their pressure testing. It's a strong action, but like everything else exercise caution and good judgement. Most American 6.5x55 ammo is loaded down compared to European ammo due to some M94 actions still being around.

I put a Timney Calvin Elite in my 700P a few years ago. I really like it.

I recently had the same issue with my 700P in 300WM. There was a small rough spot in the chamber that the fired brass would get caught on. My gunsmith was able to clean it up and the rifle runs great now.

Thought I would share my last experience bedding an action: Remington 700P .300WM with parkerized finish. Clear Kiwi shoe polish as a release agent, two coats buffed to a shine. Devcon 10110. Thought everything went beautifully until I tried to take the action out of the stock the next day...
