    FPS vs BC ?

Would love to experiment more but with the down turn in the oil and gas industry we've had to really cut back. Right now I'm limiting any expenses to the bare minimum. That unfortunaly includes powder and bullets. I've had to sell a couple firearms already. But that just opens up room in the gun...

    FPS vs BC ?

Thanks for the tips / info I'm looking forward to puttin them to practice. Thinking I'll stay with both loads. Tailor what Load I carry for expected range. Don't plan on shooting game beyond my comfort zone. But rocks and gongs look out.

    FPS vs BC ?

Just a quick question where/when does a longer/heavier high BC bullet trump a lighter shorter high velocity bullet? I currently have 2 loads for my remington 700 sendero in 300 Weatherby 178gr Amax at 3200 fps and a 208gr BTHP at 2970fps? I'm always torn as too the preferable load high BC or...

    243 help

I believe the 87gr v max is a varmint bullet only. I started this thread looking for help with the 62gr VG but with all the suggestions and help I've discovered several excellent loads. I've worked up a great dual purpose round using the hornady 87 gr SP (whitetail and coyote) and was happy with...

    243 help

Well I've abandoned the Bergers, I was working up a load for my wife's savage muddy girl using a hornady 87gr SP and IMR 4350 and thought I'd try it thru my vanguard. Printed 5 rdsa into 3/8" @ 100 yds think I've found a great load one load for dogs and deer in both my rifle and my wife's.

    243 help

Thanks for the tips. I'll give those a try this weekend. But honestly since my coyote fur season has ended (most dogs I'm seeing are looking rough and the prices are starting to slip too) I'll be switching to my Berger 90gr for busting LR dogs and Pasteur poodles. That gives me lots of time to...

    243 help

Weatherby vanguard with a bushnell DOA. As for using other powders its nearly impossible to find powder here in Canada, most sporting goods stores are down to a couple pounds of odd ball with no idea for arrival of back orders. I Got the load data for 7828SSC off reloaders nest. Great tool for...

    243 help

Looking for suggestions for a minor problem with my 243 loads. I worked up a load using 7828SSC and a 62gr varmint grenade looks like I have good potential abut it groups oddly 2 rounds touching then two more touching approx .75-1 moa high and left. Is it a bedding problem or something else...

What red dot sight to get for shotgunning coyotes

I also recently started using a shotgun for coyotes. And started with fibre optic sights but have installed a Burris speed bead and love it for both clays and dogs. Using an extra full chock and 3" #4 buck I've flattened three dogs one at 12 yds one at 22yds and one way out at 48 long steps...

Anyone switch to a larger caliber for coyotes?

I whacked one @ 12yds with my 300 ultra shooting 180gr NBT handloads. It was quartering toward me. Literally blew the front right and rear left legs off and opened the chest and belly like a zipper. Good news I could've used the scrapes to patch my fur gloves

    Speed vs BC?

Pretty much what I do now. Heavy for caliber in my target loads and faster medium for big game, light weight for varmints. And yes I run all my loads thru AE ballistic and then compare to the findings to real world trigger time. My question was more out of curiosity than a request for advice...

    Speed vs BC?

I was loading rounds for my 243win. Disappointed in her apparent distaste for 107 Amax. But pleased with the performance of 90gr Bergers. It occurred to me if I shoot lighter bullets faster the less time gravity has to work on them. I primarily use the quarter bore for coyotes from muzzle to...
