Manners EH1 Proof Sendero for R700 SA

It's got the Gen2 DBM Mini Chassis with non-rotating flush cups front and rear on bottom of stock, swivel stud for bipod. Used but in like new condition, includes the two action screws. This was cut for a short action Remington 700 specifically, not any of the clones. Barrel channel is for a...

Best long range hunting scope max budget $3K

I don't think the ATACR would leave you wanting much! I'd add a Kahles 624i to the list. The new Nightforce NX8 scopes just announced look very promising as well. Choose the one with the reticle you like the best, because when you get into that class of scope they should all have excellent...

    308 Groups 180 Berger

How many yards were you shooting those at? My 180g Berger EH load ended up at 43.4g Varget in Lapua brass and I'm getting 2,583fps with an SD of 7 and ES of 19 out of 20" Proof Carbon barrel.

300wm 200 gr eldx precision hunter ammo?

It's about 3/4 MOA in my factory Sako A7 on a good day, MOA on a bad day, that's an 11 twist barrel, so kind of pushing it there. Haven't thrown a chrono on it yet so not sure on velocity, but it's some of the only factory ammo I've come across that has given me some awfully flat primers. Flat...

    Buds gun shop?

I've purchased a couple from them several years ago. Processing time wasn't great, but wasn't horrible either, shipped within a week of ordering. I use Gallery of Guns now though, no issues with prompt shipment with them.

    Boots for sheep hunt

I've never met someone that wanted to stick with a light weight boot after having found a pair of WELL FITTING stiff boots, and these are guys that swore their Salomon 4D GTX's were the best things ever. Side hilling with a heavy pack in steep country is killer on a foot if you don't have a...

    Zero for big elevation change

100 yards is the perfect zero distance as atmospheric effects are negligible. If you do decide to zero at further than that make sure you account for your zero atmosphere in your ballistic calculator. For reference, I live in Washington and zero at 75ft altitude and hunt at 5,000+ ft. Never...

Suppressors: direct thread vs. qd mounts for hunting

I have a .30 cal can that I run on 4 different guns. Initially I thought the QD mount was the best way to go. Now that I've owned one and have seen the issues associated with QD mounts, especially the AAC QD mounts, there is no way I'll ever buy another QD mount suppressor. Having said that...

Lightweight steel vs carbon fiber barrels

I'm running a 20" Proof carbon on a .308 that I built up. The sole reason for using carbon fiber was the weight savings while being able to swap it into a heavy chassis during the off season and shoot a few matches - a true "do it all" gun so to speak. Would I use a Proof again for weight...

    Hunting with a suppressor

This right here. Personally I leave mine at home. All of my hunting is hike in backcountry out west, the extra weight and longer barrel (with said weight hanging off the end) doesn't make for a very comfortable setup to pack, and I only have a 20" barrel. If I was going to set up a dedicated...

    Advice on tripod setup

Arca rail all day every day over a vice type attachment (i.e. Hog/Pig saddle or RRS Vyce). The connection point is just so much more solid with a rail integrated into your stock foreend. Downside is you can't just easily throw an arca rail on any stock. Ballhead, leveling base, or RRS Anvil...

    Proof barrel twist

If all you're going to shoot is 140's I'd stick with an 8 twist. 140's shoot lights out in an 8 twist. If you want to start playing around with the new heavy bullets you might consider going 7.5 twist.
