Tis true, Master! The Chapman brand (and others) has a set screw in the receptacle to remedy a “bit” of this slop! Works nicely in most instances!
I felt the ire and wrath of my father many times for using his smithin’ screw drivers as multi-tools in my youth! They worked well for pry bars...

Keep in mind most precision ground "tips" in gunsmith sets are designed to fit perfectly and SHOULD give rather than damage or mar the sometimes irreplaceable screw heads on fine rifles and shotguns.
