Ramblings and Such From Hunting Coyote

There was a time when I had a book case full of studies done on predators dating from the late 1800's to present day . Coyote , fox, bear , lion , bobcat ect. . As well as being out there letting them teach me what I could learn from them . I at one time had to go to 3 days of training a year that covered all aspects of wildlife , their mode of killing , what disease's they get , what ones can be transmitted to people ,how to protect myself and family from these disease's , how to figure out what an animal died of , how to properly hunt and kill them when to stop killing the male and take the female tracking animals and know what the tracks were telling me . I not only ran with the people out there doing it but also with wildlife biologist's , but I also spent a lot of time by myself just out there doing it because that was the way I was wired . I was at one time involved in a rabies study where we had to turn in the skulls of fresh kills to be sent to the state lab . We recorded the time , date and gps location of each kill as well as the condition of the animal when it was taken . The results were enlightening you are exposed to rabies more then you would ever imagine as well as so many other disease's . In the end they told me that I probably had the equivalent of five years of collage but it didn't count towards anything but personal satisfaction and knowledge so now I have figured it's time to give back and pass some of it on to others that want to use it or just hear about it before it's lost .

Well guys I had an exciting day even though I dropped the ball big time😔😔but a buddy got a trophy. Friend of mine called and said a black wolf crossed the highway 8 miles west of town, I left work ASAP he couldn't get free as he had a couple cows calving and it's 20 below....he said he would catch up to me. I cut the track off the highway could tell it was a good male, he was heading south East and I went around these 6-8 irregular shaped sections, he was in a large area, I got over the the southeast side and looking to the northwest I could see him him laying just below the top of a hill in crp he was 2 miles away. Called my buddy and asked him how to get close as I did not know the country, wind was out of the north northwest, I got within a mile just west of it and started walking. I got south of him and looking northeast I could see him more than a 1000 yards away, he was very alert and sitting up you could tell right off he was a male wolf, large head and shoulders and heavy front. My friend showed up and he was 2 miles away watching from where I first spotted him. The wolf started heading towards me and i said a verbal thank you to GOD for this wonderful blessing, I wanted to move over a rise but he was so alert I did not do it. It cost me as the rise was 240 yards away and he came to it and paralleled it just not high enough to shoot him, he was getting close to my wind and I barked at him to stop him as he didn't know I was there...he stopped and raised his head at 260 yards and all I could see was his ears, the bipod wouldn't reach high enough, he started running and at 300 yards I couldnt hit him......we followed him for another 6-8 miles and I called a buddy where he was heading, he went one way I went another, he caught up with him and shot him. He was black a male and 108# a real dandy of a trophy........want to thank my friends for calling me and allowing to be part of it.....they are great people and great hunters.....thank you GOD for a day we won't forget anytime soon. My buddy that called me, 6-8 years ago we called in some wolves and he killed a 92# male. I sent photos to Dave and butterbean as I don't know how to post off my phone on here

I gotcha covered

And once again I want to say a big thank you . I've been told that it's not politically correct but I just say I'm tec tarded as I'm talking about myself and not any one else . I grew up in an era that didn't have so much technology and I just never learned how to do a lot of things that are common place in todays world . But you still have to be impressed by it .
