What is your ULTIMATE rifle outfit for ~500yds on North American big game? Think packing WAY back/up in there with a shot of a lifetime on a trophy animal that has never seen a human.

Long/short action? Caliber? Action? Stock? Optic? Trigger? etc. Overkill is fine; what is your ULTIMATE dream rig for out to 500?

Light as I could build 280AI...

LH LP TI action
22 proof carbon light sendero .284 1-8 twist
Manners EH1 or MC-T carbon fiber--ADL blind bottom repeater
Good trigger--timney/triggertech im not that pickey
dNZ reaper 2 piece mounts--Leupold Mark 5 3.8x18 or one of my bushy 4.5x18 LRHS

(In a nutshell of what my thoughts are)

Well. Right now my good old ruger m77 .300wm. It's been my go too meat gun for years and has never failed me. It ain't pretty but it'll get the job done out to 500 yards pretty easy.

Dream gun? Maybe a Proof research model in .300 WM with a nice Leupold VX6

I'm pretty fond of my current .338 RUM. Nothing special really, not 1 hole accurate and sure will not win any beauty contests. Weighs around the 9 pound mark so if I made any changes it would be a carbon barrel. However don't want it too light.
A shot of a lifetime on a trophy animal for me is currently a monster bull elk. If 500 yards was my max I would switch out my Hammer Hunters for some Sledgehammers!

7mm Rem mag has a high b.c and plenty of knock down power out to 500
