I understand that the firearms industry, the hunting industry and everyone else that derives a living from our sport is a lot of people and families and revenue but by the same token there are a whole bunch of politicians who would like nothing better than make it all illegal and are pushing hard toward that and using the recent events to their advantage, when, IMO, they need to address the issues of mental illness and potential criminal intent out on the streets. Thats hard though. Much easier to come after a target thats tangible and unorganized....'me'. What better way to control the people...when the people have no defense. Always look at the end game and forget about how it will effect 'me'. 'Me' is weak. 'Me' is easily conquerable. 'Me' is easily defeated. The one resounding force against this is the NRA. While I don't agree with all their principles or their stance on every issue, the NRA takes us from 'me' to WE. I also realize there are other groups out there but the NRA has to be the most organized and has the largest membership. I have no issue with supporting them if they can make even a little difference. We are strong, We aren't easily defeated, We together have a voice. Make no doubt about it, even if 'we' win this battle, there are going to be more and more frequent now. It has to be we and not me to triumph in this, and protect our First and Second Amendment Rights. Chest beating does absolutely nothing. In fact, it casts a negative shadow on all of us. It makes you feel good to read it and think it, but in reality, it's detrimental to what 'we' want to protect. On a side note, I've been dealing with this stuff with motorcycles for a long time. I make a good and enjoyable living as a manufacturer and distributor of motorcycle accessories and I own multiple motorcycles and have for decades, my business is an extension of something I enjoy but motorcyclists are constantly in the gun sights (no pun intended) of every noise abatement group, governmental entities who want to remove motorcycles as a means of recreation/transportation and every law enforcement agency that wants to harass motorcyclists because they are easy prey. It seems that if a person derives enjoyment from a venue, any venue, there is always someone or some group out there, that is against it. I'm a member of ABATE, and the AMA. Just like the NRA, those organizations champion the rights of motorcyclists. I'm pretty familiar with how all this plays..... and I'm not about lay down and roll over because it looks politically good....at least not yet anyway. One part of Feinstein's proposal deals directly with advertising of firearms and Internet venues (like this) that discuss firearms. She wants them eliminated, gone. I find it a preposterous, but there are a lot of citizens out there that don't, never forget that. As a whole, we need to cease the chest beating and be positive in our approach to the issues at hand. How I feel and how I will act, are 2 entirely different things. As much as they'd like to, the government will never control your thoughts and desires. Just how I feel about current events.
