Ah, the elusive .410 ammo! Yes, there has been a shortage of .410 ammo for quite some time now, and it seems to be a widespread issue. It's hard to pinpoint the exact cause of the shortage, but several factors likely contribute, such as increased demand, limited production capacity, and fluctuations in the market. Some shotgun enthusiasts have turned to alternative gauges like 20-gauge or 28-gauge ammunition due to this scarcity.
Unfortunately, it's difficult to predict when the .410 ammo shortage will end, but there are a few things you can do to lessen the impact. You could look for bulk buying opportunities, consider trying out a different gauge with more available ammo, or even start reloading your own shells.
As for your neighbor, he's not alone in his struggle to find .410 ammo for his 100+ year old single shot shotgun. The scarcity has affected shooting sports as well, with some events and competitions facing cancellations or rescheduling. It's a tough situation for many, but responsible purchasing, avoiding panic buying, and supporting transparent communication within the shooting community can all help to address the shortage.

I see 410 ammo in nearly every store I go into there is no shortage of it, but the choices are not very broad and the prices are pretty much out of line.

Midway has Remington STS premier Target 410's for $195 bucks for a case of 250 rds. Save the empties and reload them, then a guys price is right about 50 cents a round. Can save about a quarter each on a reload, if that's worth the trouble.

We don't have a .410 but always wanted to get a Rem 1100 in .410 with Chokes. My neighbor has been shooting Armadillos at night in his yard with a 100+ year old single shot .410. He is running out of .410 Ammo and asked us for some. I looked all over this area (East Ga) and no luck. there is everything from 28, 20, 12, and even some 16, but no .410.
Has the .410 Ammo shortage been going on a long time?
Go the net and look. Look at Graf & Son or Ballistic Products.
