Two "Pearls of Wisdom" which have guided my perspective of folks: First was given to me by my mom... I didn't have a dad... "It's not what's on the outside of a person that matters, it's what's on the inside." Second one I learned day one in BCT... "There's only one color in the Army... GREEN! and we're ALL GREEN so get the F over it!" There's a third that was given to me by my Great Grandmom, Zona. She was 100% Chocktaw from Oklahoma... she said.. "Brucie, don't ever build your house or live where Indians didn't live." Being a young man, I thought Mamaw was whacky, but she was absolutely right!! I grew up in rural south Texas and wasn't 'polluted' with the predjuices and idiocies of city life. I am so grateful for that! It was there the values of dignity, respect, honor, integrity, hard work and honesty were instilled into me.. sometimes with a bit of 'encouragement'. Oh and btw.. Texas women, especially those of Native American descent... are TOUGH women!! :) Animo et Fide "Courage and Faith" Doc
