I am in the process of planning out and building a 338 edge. I have a pretty good idea of what I want, but I'm still trying to figure out a couple things such as barrel contour. Please post some pictures of your ELR rifles such as your ultra mags, normas, and edges and give a description of components used. Thanks

Here's my 338-408 Chey-Tac.




Lawton 8500 Action
Brux Barrel / 1-10 twist / 1.350" breech straight for 6" then straight tapered down to 1" at 34"
CSR Muzzle Brake
McMillan A5 Super Mag / I re-built the butt section to have taper
Custom Rings and Bases / My own
Sightron 8-32x56

Runs a 300g SMK at 3203 fps. I've ran this out over 2000 yards with sub moa performance

If I had to do it over I'd use a Stiller TAC 408 and the 4 Port Muscle Brake, everything else I'd keep the same.

Weighs in at 19 1/2 lbs.

Not the best of pics, but here's a couple.

Top:
270 Allen Magnum
Rem 721 Action - set up single shot.
28" Lilja w/Holland QD brake.
Barrel and brake fitted by Griz. Original 30" Lilja shot out at about 925 rounds.
This barrel seems a bit "faster" than the original. Gets 3430 MV w/169.5 Wildcats (accuracy load) w/2 grains less US-869 than the original barrel. Apply a bc of 0.74 to that and see whatcha get. Sub 1/2 MOA. Original barrel tested to 1417 yds. This one will be as deadly!
Stock - prototype designed by me. Hidden in there is a B&C sporter.
Bipod - prototype designed and made by me. I like solid!!!
Cheek rest - Another of my creations. Chap leather and velcro w/custom fit spacer/riser. Solid and no screws when removal for bolt removal/cleaning is necessary.
Rifle Basix trigger - added by Griz
Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20 X 50 MC
wt @ 11+ pounds all up.

APS Painkiller brake. (very effective) and only weighs 12.1 oz.

Jewel Trigger w/bottom safety (kind of nifty safety feature)
NXS 5.5-22 X 56mm w/40 MOA base. Two sets of NF rings.
Bipod - by me.
Strap and carry system - again by me.
Cheek rest - velcro'd cow hide with hair on it. (makes for messing with concentration with the cheek against that hair. Makes one's mind wander...)

Have only 5 shots through the Pac Nor and have see no copper yet. I have only shot this girl @ 200 yds and set the turrets to what I think will get it on the paper @ 300. That will provide a decent start.

She pushes the 350 SMK @ 3224 +/- 1 w/chrono @ 11 feet, so she must be pushing towards 3250 a bit. No pressure. Cases may last forever. Using 142.5 gr Retumbo

Takin' her to MT June 9 and muster all the expertise that will be there. Figgerin' Broz and the boys will get'er out to 1k or better. Really looking forward to it.

barrel cryo treated and threaded for my suppresor
changed out the original stock for a bell and carlson tactical
dura coated the stainless in coyote brown
vortex hd 5x20 mil/mil on a 20 moa base
timney trigger adjust to 1.75 lbs
shooting a berger hybrid 215 (.696 g1 bc) at 2875 fps SD of 10

only taken her out to 1500 yards so far, Im still not quite satisfied with the accuracy current load will do 5 shots .8 moa at 100, but it will hit a 20x20 at 1500.. With this speed and bullet BC it will do 1 mile (if I can do my part!)
