Hey Everyone,

What would be the correct barrel twist to shoot the heavier 270 bullets such as 165 or 175 gr bullets? Matrix Ballistics carries both those bullets in VLD style with high BC's. Would a 1:9 do the trick or would I have to find a 1:8?

Here's an email from matrix:

Hi,

Will your heavy .277 VLDs stabilize in a 1:10 twist barrel?

Thanks,

John

Hi John,

The 165 gr should work fine, the 175 is doubtful.

Thanks,
Marshal

As soon as my reamer bushing set shows from PT&G I'll know how the 165's work in a 1-9 twist. The 175's need a 1-8 when I talked to Marshal. They are good looking bullets, the box I weight out were very good and they measured out good also. Hopefully they will shoot out of my WSM!
A 1-8 would handle everything without much question and be a safe bet IMO.
