It may sound like I am taking the easy way out after reading the many responses to this problem and in my opinion at some point if you hunt enough and for many years, you will have a so called failure with almost any bullet. There are way to many reason and kinds of bullet failure to list them and sometimes it becomes an individual opinion as to what is a failure. I have had bullets perform poorly based on there intended use and the conditions present and occasionally for no reason that I could think of. Match bullets with thin jackets are known to be very explosive but I have had then pass completely through with out expanding at all. I have also had partition type bullets that should be very dependable in their expansion come completely apart and the next time pass through with out expanding at all. I tried the mono metal bullets and have had the same occasional failure to perform like "I" thought they should. I have apparently developed good tracking skills because In over 50 years of rifle and bow hunting I have lost only 4 or 5 animals. I had to developed skills for knowing where the game was before the shot and the last place I saw them after the hit so in the event I have one of these supposed failures it doesn't sting as much as losing game that was hit perfect. So I believe that all bullets can fail in one way or another at one time or another. The only time that I stick with one type of bullet is when it seems to never let me down no mater what the circumstances. There are some that I don,t buy/use because it happens more often than some others. Just an observation J E CUSTOM
