There are multiple YouTube videos ( e.g by BackFire, Ron Spomer, Big Game Hunting), and all dug into this subject, including contacting the Marketing Manager at Hornady. It is simply the lack of the best powder found initially (I think it was Reloder 26, but don't quote me on that), - that gave the Hdy med velocities on the box. They had to sacrifice speed but retain accuracy, using different propellents. But the fundamentals are tere: the case, capacity, the cartridge desig, etc.
I got 3000+ fps with H1000, which is also hard to find...

My 24" barrel 7 PRC is getting 2855 fps with Hornady factory 175 ELD-X rounds. I have achieved 3045 fps with LRT powder and 175 ELD-X bullets with safe pressure signs.

What load are you using? I have some LRT on hand and have bee looking at trying it.

Hornady brass, CCI 250 primer, Hornady 175 grain ELD-X bullet, and 79.5 grains of LRT. Start lower and work up as it's a warm load.

I shot my 7 PRC today with 175gr ELD-X powered by N568 powder.
I got a 0.3" group with 68.0gr of powder at avg 2,806 avg fps
I got a 0.45" group with 70.0 powder at 2,900 avg fps.
I got a 0.2" group with 71.0gr powder at 2,940 avg fps.
The 71.0 gr load did not show any signs of pressure, all loads were ADG brass.

That is Mighty Fine, Big Don.
It's an overlooked powder, and where adequate capacity exists it is an excellent choice. Did you use a drop tube, at all?

Very nice. I am going to chamber form some new Peterson brass with a reduced load of 67.5gr. N565 pushing 175 ABLRs, and then rip some at 69.7 to 70gr. I should be approaching 2930-40fps, which is fine for me.

Mine likes 565, also. If I was smart I'd leave it there but I'm not going to pretend.

Hi Phil,
If I recall correctly, I had to use a drop tube on loads of 70.5gr and 71gr. I dumped the charge from the powder scale pan into the drop tube funnel and used the very scientific "thump the side of the cartridge case with my index finger".
About you tying more powders, "nothing ventured, nothing gained". You can always go back to a known sweet spot load of N565!
The only reason I bought N568 was that Midway had it on a real good price and I was having no luck finding H1000…. For a first try with N568, I'm pleased with the results.
