Hello all, I have been pondering for quite some time about building a 7-300 WM. I mainly shoot long range at plates but do get a fair amount of 600-800 yard shot opportunities on elk where we hunt them. I have 600 pieces of lapua 300 WM brass I have been using in my 300 WM browning x bolt with the berger 210 VLD and just got my hands on 400 215 berger hybrids. I love the availability of the 300 WM and 30 cal projectiles but am always tempted by the BCs of the .284 projectiles. If I build a 7-300 WM it will be with a Wyatt's extended box mags throwing the 195 berger (currently have 500). Have I just been bit by the .284 fairy dust bug or is this a good plan. Any info/recommendations is appreciated cheers.

I am really liking the 7X300WSM. Been playing with it a few months and I can't see any other "big 7" that I would want more.

Have you thought about building a 7 saum instead? There's guys on the form who are shooting 195 with a 7 saum. They're getting great speed and you wouldn't have to do all the extra work with the brass.

.300 WM loaded with 215 Berger is golden. Search for Berger 210/215 by BROZ; he accounted for over 100+ kills on multiple long-range games.

You will like it. I run a 28 nosler with 195's and it's basically the same as the 7-300 Win Mag. At the 3140 my 29" barrel gets them going the wind is minimal. N570 will probably be your friend in that too.

I have been a fan of the 7RMag for a long time and have wanted a 7-300wm ever since I heard of it.
Now I have a 7STW and it has been a pure shooter.
I still want a 7-300 just because 😁

I have great results with 195 EOL and LRT. I load to 3.57" for DBM. The Berger likes to jump.
