Coyote Hunting - From 10 Yards to over 1,000 Yards

I'd use a shotgun with a slug that is real accurate before wounding more than you will kill humanely with a 22 mag. at any kind of distance. I don't know why so many have the mentality that "it's just a coyote" and will shoot it whether it runs away to die a slow death or dies on the spot.
